Helen S. Hunsaker

HONEYVILLE – Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, Helen Grace Shelby Hunsaker, 100, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 from TMB (Too Many Birthdays).

Helen was born to John and Clara Steffen Shelby on January 22, 1919 in Brigham City, Utah.

She married Norman S. Hunsaker on February 14, 1941 and was later sealed in the Logan Temple. They lived almost their entire married life in Honeyville, Utah where they raised their family. After the family grew up they bought the N & H Market where they enjoyed working until she contracted Guillain Barre’ Syndrome. Norman died on April 30, 1993.

Helen was a hard worker all her life. At the age of 15, she quit school and went to work to help her ailing parents who died within 3 weeks of each other when she was just 18.

She was always very quiet, never loud, outspoken or complaining. She was an excellent cook and was still canning at age 96. She loved to sew, make dolls & doll clothes, reupholster furniture and made about 400 pieced quilts. She loved to watch the Utah Jazz.

Helen is survived by her children: Stuart (Joan), Sterling, AK; Mark, Murray, UT; Tracy, Anchorage, AK; Roslyn (Gary) Mark, Mesquite, NV; Anita (David) Kilfoyle, Tremonton, UT; Margene (Sandy) Webb, Cedar City, UT; 16 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Florence Shelby and Marion Shelby.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Norman, daughter Rochelle Smith, granddaughter Jacqueline Misrasi, grandsons Shawn Webb and Brady Mark.

Our thanks to all those who assisted in caring for her at Mission at Maple Springs, and Rocky Mountain Hospice.

A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Honeyville LDS Church, 6980 N. 2620 W., Honeyville, UT. A 3:00 p.m. graveside service will follow at the Honeyville City Cemetery, 6900 N. 2500 W., Honeyville, UT
