Jerry “Mac” Edwards

Jerry “Mac” Edwards was born in Brigham City on September 14, 1958 and passed on to his reward February 23, 2018. Though gone too soon, he was loved, admired and a blessing to many that he met.

Mac attended Box Elder High School, graduating in 1976. He went on to Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, earning a BA in Speech and Dramatic Arts.  He earned a Master of Arts in both Religious Education and Communication from Southwest Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mac was licensed and ordained in January 2005. He became Pastor of First Baptist Church in Brigham City on March 1, 2010.

One of his great passions was Theatre and he volunteered in Palace Playhouse and Heritage Community Theatre. His volunteer work continued with Family Support Center, Box Elder Community Pantry, Golden Spike Railroad Association, Box Elder Tourism Counsel, and the Chamber of Commerce where he was president for two years.

He volunteered for 15 years as a release time teacher for Box Elder Christian Seminary. For 2 years he served as chaplain for Alpine Home Care and Hospice in Ogden and Brigham City.  He also volunteered 6 years as guest instructor with the Master’s Commission program of Victory Assembly of God.

Mac owned Shirt Mark-it for several years designing and producing collectable Peach Day shirts.  He is also well known for emceeing the Peach Days parade.

Those who knew Mac, knew his greatest passion was sharing his love of God, and sharing his knowledge about God’s word.  Theater, music, crocheting, photography, and art were included in his interests. He was loving and kind to people he met if they gave him a chance. He saw and cared for many that most people overlooked.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank K. and Roberta J. Cox Edwards, sister Amelia, and brother James.  He is survived by his brother Thomas L. Edwards.
